Please read about a recent George’s Apparel customer experience which moved us to share his story.
“I would first like to thank the staff of Georges Apparel for “making my day,” in particular Cy Lombardo and Holly Auger (also a shout out to Bernie for his sense of humor). One never knows the impact that a brief moment of kindness, caring, and professionalism can have on a personal friend or a stranger. Nor what one says or does (positive or negative) in any one single moment could easily alter or change a persons’ day. One just never knows.
My name is Danny O’Malley and I reside in Leominster, Ma. Yesterday after my cousin passed, I was asked to assist in carrying her casket. The services were to be tomorrow evening and Saturday morning. I was very saddened with her passing and needed “apparel” that was appropriate, was in style, and actually fit.
Due, in part, to becoming an immediate care taker for my elderly mother, this past year had become a year of inactivity and a somewhat of a challenge to my waistline. Being a typical male of mature age, I had not shopped for a suit in some time and was on a quest to purchase something appropriate for the my cousins service and also to double for a civil ceremony for my own wedding in a few weeks (1st for both of us). Today was further complicated by personal issues with my mothers deteriorating health.
I tried two shops in the Nashua area and neither one could fit me nor accommodate my needs, but, they both recommended “Georges in Manchester.” They were not sure of the address, and being from Leominster I hadn’t even heard of Georges Apparel. I had to make a stop at The Traders Joe’s Market in Nashua, so I asked a clerk if he had heard of Georges in Manchester? He assured me he had and promptly gave me directions, but in doing so, he made a statement that was almost verbatim from my previous two stops. “ It is a caring family owned business that will give you individual attention and I am sure they will have what you will need. They will most certainly take care of you there. You can’t go wrong.” What a great testament!
Due to the combination of a lack of “apparel” success, nothing fitting, and a heavy burden of immediacy for tomorrows event, I was in a state of despair and discouragement. But the testament from those three individuals gave me a sense of encouragement and sent me off to find Georges Apparel in Manchester. I did find Georges Apparel and was promptly greeted with attitudes of professionalism, problem solving, and a most caring and supportive demeanor. Nothing seemed to be a problem and the two previously mentioned professionals took care of all the details and quickly became my “problem solvers.” They did not have my particular size and color in stock but they were able and willing to extensively alter the jacket and trousers (I believe it might have been easier to try and alter me) to meet my needs. I had the added stress of having an hour drive ahead of me and was on a timeline to relieve a home care professional staying with my mother. Again, this was not a problem and everything was done and completed within 90 minutes.
My experience reminded me of “days gone past” when people took pride in their product, professionalism, and made everyone feel welcome and valued. People were not just a paycheck to employees but a person with value, nor was assisting a customer just a job but a prideful profession. I am a retired educator and sadly I have found that many of these values have been lost or discarded along the way, but, not at Georges Apparel. Thank you and please “continue to continue” doing what is right and what you know is of value and does work.
Thank you again Georges Apparel and have a “boogieful” day,
